    Professor Roques,

Good day! I am Eunjoo Oh, a graduate student from Korea University majoring in International Development and Cooperation.

Currently, I’m visiting the Philippines to research for my thesis on the topic of political pork barrel as the main cause of the corruption in the Philippines during post-Marcos regime. In the course of my research, I happened to read an online article by World Time titled “Pork-Barrel Graft Scandal Sparks Massive Protests”, and your interview comments, I dare say, was very impressive and informative.

For this reason, I would greatly appreciate if you would let me visit you at your office and conduct a short interview with you regarding the current domestic issues of political pork barrel and your opinion on the topic, which will definitely be a great help and guidance for my thesis.

If it would be possible, please contact me anytime before my departure, which is on March 8.

I am not sure if this blog would be a proper means to contact you, yet I was not able to find your email address online. I hope you would understand

Thank you for your time and concern.
    Have a wonderful day!

Sir with the recent events in Olongapo there are many in social circles questioning how a poor family could afford your services. I assume you have offered your services to the family and have stated such to those posing these questions. Hope all goes well and RIP and condolences to Jennifers and family. I for one am all for seeing justice served and if the evidence shows this marine as guilty of course the Philippines should try him it is only right. Hopefully there will be no interference from either government and the NBI and NCIS can conduct a thorough and quick investigation with result [publish as soon as completed. Thank you.

  27. Apprentice John says:

Sir, I would like to refer to you the Section 9 of Republic Act 9993, it defined the maximum tenure of officers in the ranks of CAPTAIN and Flag Officers in the Philippine Coast Guard:

    Admiral-3 years
    Vice Admiral-3 years
    Rear Admiral-3 years
    Commodore-5 years
    Captain-7 years

But why was it not implemented in the Coast Guard, our incumbent Vice Commandant before he was promoted to 2 stars, he had his Commodore Rank for more than 9 years, but still he was promoted. Now we have two senior officers(RADM CHEN and RADM TUASON) who hold the rank of Rear Admiral and due to complete their max tenure this May, and our good Commandant seems not to care. There are even rumors that they will soon be promoted after his retirement. They are recklessly disrespecting the rule of law and clearly display a mockery of an enacted Republic Act.

May i request you to look into this and put a stop on this ill tradition of selfishness and disrespect to the ranks that they all hold!
